Robert Shore

Robert ShoreThe Board of Trustee's a pleased to announce that the 2021 recipient of the Vinny Blancuzzi Award is Robert Shore. The award is presented to a region member to recognize the time and effort it takes to make the Region work above and beyond the normal effort.

Bob joined SCCA-NNJR in 2015 and has been instrumental in the growth of the Region's RoadRally program and our selection for the SCCA RoadRally Regional Development awards in 2016 and again in 2020. Bob has been a major contributor to the Region's RoadRally program growth to the most active program in the county in 2020 and in 2021.

Bob started rallying back in 1966 as a member of Raritan Valley Sports Car Club. He was Chief of Controls for NNJR's Pine Barren Express (BPX) RoadRally which featured the sand trials of Brendan T. Byrne State Forest and Wharton State Park. PBX was brisk Time-Speed-Distance rally that started in 1999 and ran for ten years.

Back in 2014, Bob along with NNJR's member Fred Cochran established our existing relationship with the New Jersey Highlands Coalition which is our co-host for both our Spring and Fall "tours/treks' Road Rallies. The Highland events are non-competitive scenic drives of the Highlands of northwestern New Jersey and have featured in the past the Morris Canal and The Sterling Hill Mining Museum which is the "fluorescent mineral capital of the world" and last year visited the rural beguiling bridges of western New Jersey. The last three Highland Tours have been the best attended SCCA rallies in the United States.

Outside of Bob's interest in RoadRalling, Bob volunteers at the Manhattan Graphics Center which is an artist run printmaking workshop in New York City and was on their Board from 2006 till 2016.
